Some measurement programs can be supported remotely when site conditions, instrumentation, test method, and project requirements allow it.
Remote-assisted testing is different from remote monitoring. In remote-assisted testing, OSAT personnel may guide an on-site representative through defined setup or operating steps while reviewing data or conditions remotely. In remote monitoring, instrumentation remains at the site and records conditions over an extended period.
Remote-Assisted Field Testing
Depending on the project, remote support may include pre-test setup review, live video conferencing, instrument-placement guidance, operating-condition coordination, data transfer, and technical review of collected measurements.
Where Remote Support May Be Practical
- Environmental and community noise measurements
- Selected long-term noise or vibration monitoring projects
- Operational comparisons of machinery or building systems
- Selected indoor environmental measurements
- Follow-up measurements where the site and procedure are already well documented
Standards and Limitations
Not every ASTM, ISO, ANSI, OSHA, ICD-705, or other standardized procedure is suitable for remote execution. Where a method requires direct control of instrumentation, calibrated source positioning, specialized field judgment, security restrictions, or specific technician actions, OSAT personnel may need to perform the work on site.
Long-Term Remote Monitoring
For projects that require continuous or recurring measurements over days, weeks, months, or longer periods, see our Long-Term Noise & Vibration Monitoring service.
Contact us with the project location, measurement objective, available instrumentation, and applicable standard or specification so we can determine whether remote support is appropriate.
