Independent acoustical testing and building-acoustics field measurement for architects, developers, engineers, contractors, and owners who need airborne sound isolation, impact noise, and completed-building performance verified on site.
Architectural and Development Services
Acoustical performance depends on both the design of an assembly and how it is ultimately constructed. On-Site Acoustic Testing provides field measurements, design review and diagnostic testing to help project teams establish performance, verify completed work and investigate conditions that do not perform as intended.
Building Acoustics
Design & Verification
- Acoustical plan and construction-document review
- Modeling of walls, floors and windows
- Mechanical-system noise and vibration evaluation
- Field troubleshooting and post-remediation verification
From Design Intent to Field Performance
Laboratory ratings and design details are useful starting points, but field performance can be affected by flanking paths, penetrations, doors, glazing, mechanical-system interconnections and construction details. Field testing provides an objective way to determine how the completed building actually performs.
OSAT can become involved before construction through plan review and modeling, during construction when representative assemblies or problem areas can be tested, or after completion for commissioning, acceptance testing and troubleshooting. When a condition falls short, targeted measurements can help isolate the cause and evaluate remediation options.
Testing for Residential, Commercial and Secure Construction
Our building-acoustics work includes multifamily residential projects, commercial and institutional buildings, and secure government facilities. This allows the same core measurement methods to be applied to very different project requirements while keeping the focus on repeatable field data and the applicable project criteria.
