Project Experience

OSAT’s project experience spans military and secure facilities, multifamily housing, hospitality, aviation, data centers, industrial installations, and occupied workplaces.

This overview groups representative work by sector. The linked case studies explain the individual assignments, while additional service links cover work beyond the projects described there. Client names and identifying locations are withheld where confidentiality applies.

Military, Government & Secure Facilities

Work includes acoustic verification of SCIFs and other secure spaces, door remediation support, and retesting after corrective work. One assignment expanded to approximately 100 doors; another brought more than 60 doors from initial failure to 100% meeting their required rating. OSAT also provides RF-shielding field verification.

Multifamily Housing & Construction

OSAT has compared floor-ceiling assemblies to guide new apartment construction and measured AIIC and ASTC performance at eight acquired apartment complexes to inform flooring decisions. These assignments helped ownership select materials based on measured assembly performance.

Hotels, Private Clubs & Guest Accommodation

Hospitality work includes indoor and outdoor noise assessment, sound isolation between guest rooms and entertainment spaces, and lighting surveys. At a waterfront hotel, OSAT assessed guest comfort and public-area lighting alongside the needs of a turtle-nesting beachfront. At a private club, testing addressed glazing, floor-ceiling transmission, and a musical performance stage.

Aviation & Broadcast Environments

OSAT evaluated aircraft cabin announcements through ground testing and a two-hour flight, with recommendations subsequently adopted across similar aircraft. Broadcast work has included sound-isolation verification and door design support for pods used at major sporting events.

Data Centers & Environmental Noise

Assignments include property-boundary noise measurements and technical review of noise evidence in a data center dispute. OSAT’s broader data center work covers equipment noise, vibration, source localization, commissioning support, and FLIR thermal investigation.

Industrial Installations & Product Noise

Diagnostic projects have ranged from locating a defect in difficult-to-access piping to identifying an objectionable whistle in a handheld blower. The blower investigation led to a production grille change that reduced overall noise by more than 10 decibels. Other work includes machinery, HVAC, chillers, pumps, fans, motors, and generators.

Residential, HOA & Pickleball Noise

OSAT has assessed proposed pickleball courts before construction and monitored operating courts beside homes. Long-term monitoring with audio recordings has also documented recurring activity at a commercial property adjoining a residence, supplying information for use in a dispute.

Workplace Noise & Indoor Air Quality

A multi-facility assignment for a software vendor addressed call-center noise complaints and air quality concerns in spaces of approximately 10,000 to 40,000 square feet. Measurements informed recommendations for filtration, HVAC investigation, and low-VOC furnishings and carpeting.
